TAS BREAKFAST FORUM: ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE (AI) IN HEALTHCARE: OPPORTUNITIES AND CHALLENGES, 23 MAY 2024

The ACHSM (Australasian College of Health Service Management) Vic/Tas branch will host a breakfast session in Hobart, Tasmania, focusing on the opportunities and challenges of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in healthcare. The event will aim to explore how AI will reshape the healthcare landscape, highlighting both the potential benefits and the obstacles to its implementation.

Speakers at the session will discuss the various ways AI will be utilised in healthcare, including diagnostic support, personalised treatment plans, and administrative tasks automation. They will emphasise the potential of AI to enhance patient care, improve efficiency, and reduce healthcare costs.

However, alongside these opportunities, the session will also address the challenges associated with AI adoption in healthcare. Concerns will be raised about data privacy and security, the need for robust regulation and governance frameworks, and the potential for AI to exacerbate existing healthcare inequalities.

Attendees will engage in lively discussions about the ethical implications of AI in healthcare, emphasising the importance of maintaining human oversight and accountability. They will also highlight the need for ongoing education and training to ensure healthcare professionals are equipped to leverage AI effectively and ethically.

We encourage whoever is interested in the topic of AI in Healthcare to join the ACHSM breakfast session that will provide valuable insights into the evolving role of AI in healthcare, emphasising the importance of thoughtful consideration and collaboration to harness its full potential while addressing its associated challenges.
